[The 'Capital T' Club was established in March 1943 by temperance organisations in Leicester to offer Canadian and American service personnel an alternative to using public houses. The Leicester Anchor Club was founded in 1961 as a club for ex-offenders. With her interests in temperance and in prison welfare, Gertrude Bishop (Rosemary Bishop's mother) was a driving force in both organisations.]
