Florence Smith's diaries, 1905 - 1907
Scope and Contents
Florence Smith's diaries cover two years only in her early 20s, with a gap from September 1905 to early December 1906. She ceased to write her diary a few days before her death at the age of 23 in 1907. The diaries are of a more narrative nature than those of her sister Margaret.

Biographical / Historical
Florence Smith, sister of Margaret Smith [Girton 1904, qv], was born in Lancashire on June 19 1883 and educated, like her sister, at St Margaret’s, Polmont, near Edinburgh. After a period of living at home she was working, by December 1906, at a convent in Lloyd Street, London [The Society of the Sisters of Bethany, Clerkenwell?], producing embroidery work etc for church vestments and furnishings. She died at the age of 23 on April 13 1907.
