Gaming Board, 1968 - 2006
Scope and Contents
The Gaming Board was a statutory body established by the 1968 Gambling Act to maintain a general oversight of the extent, character and location of gaming facilities in England, Wales and Scotland (see GCPP Littler 5/9 for background and more detail). From 1993 to 1998 Shirley Littler was Chairman of the Gaming Board and after she retired from that position she followed closely the Government proposals for new gambling legislation.
