Immediate Source of Acquisition
These letters written from Ireland were added by Lady Henley in 1955 as an 'epilogue'. In a covering note, DH states that she gave them to dispel the myth that '"girls of a well-bred family" could not go about alone, unshepherded and unchaperoned 50 years ago'.
