Scope and Contents
Four page typescript; pages numbered 84-87, being JH’s contribution to " 'Fifty Years from Girton’ – the 1957 Year Project / A Portfolio of Individual Memoirs Collected for the Girton College Archive to mark our 50th Anniversary in 2007" (later analysed in ‘The In-Between Generation’ by Deryn Watson in the Girton Project Journal, Volume Two, 2012). These pages cover the following: interviews at both Oxford and Cambridge and the choice to come to Cambridge; first impressions; the Girton experience; the University drama scene; studying English; the progression to teaching and art book editing via educational publishing; marriage; training as a social worker; freelance writing; comment on the Cambridge experience generally; and retirement to Sussex. Pages 3 and 4 cover health in old age; the Indian heritage of her adopted children; a visit by her son to Girton as a teenager; and a final retrospective view of Girton.
