Personal papers of Joanna Cotton, 1955 - 1961
Scope and Contents
The papers comprise invitations and theatre programmes kept by Joanna Cotton chiefly from her Girton years, together with a graduation photograph and news cuttings containing illustrated articles about Cambridge student life. Thus they provide a snapshot of aspects of the Girton experience of the 1950s.

Biographical / Historical
Joanna Cotton was born on 7 May 1936 in Bangalore, India, to Colonel Henry Cotton and Rosemary Nyda Tremlett. She was educated at the Holy Child Convent, Mayfield, Sussex and then read History at Girton College from 1955-1958. Joanna joined the News Information Section of the BBC in 1958. She married Nicolas John Barker in 1962 and they had two sons and three daughters.
