File contains the following published reports on the 1945 Working Women’s Summer School:
Pages 11-14 of the Girton Review, Michaelmas Term 1945, being a report on the 1945 WWSS by K M E Murray, followed by ‘My Impressions of the Summer School’ by ‘A Student’;
Cambridge Daily News, 13 August 1945, containing, on page 5, an article entitled ‘Working Women as Students’, illustrated with a photograph of one of the students, Mrs Crewe of Skipton, Yorks, standing on the drive talking;
Sunday Express 12 August 1945, containing an article entitled ‘Grandma goes to Girton’, illustrated with a photograph of Mrs Crewe, who studied English Literature;
Part of the News Chronicle, 13 August 1945, with a short article on page 3 entitled ‘Housewife goes to Girton’, illustrated with a photograph of Mrs Crewe;
Picture Post, 29 September 1945, containing an article by Margaret Stewart on pages 22-23 entitled ‘What Mother looks like when she’s learning’, illustrated with five photographs by K Hutton, including: a group of students in the Stanley Library with their lecturer [probably Helen Cam]; Mrs Amos, a London clerk; Miss Reeves and Miss Bookman, a baker’s roundsman and a nurse-companion; Mrs Crewe, the wife of a Skipton railwayman; Mrs Shucksmith, a farmer’s wife from Lincolnshire and Mrs Williams, an assistant billeting officer for Rugby; also correspondence between Girton College and Picture Post concerning the taking of photographs and the writing of the article - including a list of subjects in the photographs;
Short news article entitled ‘ 'New Girls' go to Girton’ [name of publication not found], together with a letter of enquiry sent by the husband of a potential candidate (unbeknown to her), 17 August 1945;
Correspondence with the Sunday Graphic, July - August 1945, concerning a request to take photographs of the WWSS [declined].
