The Women's Research and Resources Centre began in 1975 in a single room in a basement in central London. Its first (part-time) worker was Zoe Fairbairn. It was based at 27 Clerkenwell Close, London EC1 by early 1979 and later at 190 Upper Street, London N1. It aimed 'to provide information facilities for people doing research on subjects of importance to women and the women's movement' - including a library, seminars, information on women's studies etc.
