Scarlet Women: miscellaneous group papers, 1977 - 1980
Scope and Contents
Including: newsletters nos 3 and 4, February and July 1977; draft papers and minutes relating to planning for a national conference on Socialist Feminism including 'Women, Capitalism and Sexuality', being a summary of a longer paper [no date] 1978; flyer, framework and programme for a Socialist Feminist conference to be held at the City University, London, 24-25 March 1979; circular letter to Scarlet Women subscribers, 14 March 1980, concerning a proposed rise in subscription rates. Also a newsletter of uncertain origin [probably the Scarlet Women Collective?]: the newsletter is themed round the socialist-feminist current (its history, the subject of the Working Women’s Charter, and the future). At the top of page 1 there is a hand drawn cartoon of two women, one holding a document and saying ‘It’s a Writ from Tom Jackson – they want an injunction against ‘Scarlet Women’ for being so heavy, the postmen’s wrists get broken!’ [1977].
