Scope and Contents

File includes the following:
Suggested draft for a letter to the Home Secretary on paper headed ‘Freedom of Labour Defence, 18 Grey Coat Gardens Westminster’ and a draft petition for small shopkeepers relating to proposals for early closing;
Letters to, and correspondence between, various members of the Committee, 1901-13, including Helen Blackburn, Edith Lawson, Constance Plumptre, Louisa Knightley and Antoinette Mackenzie; including several letters from Jessie Boucherett, 1901-04;
A letter from Ethel Heap of Girton College [Girton 1900-04, Classics] requesting information on the FLDS as she is ‘intending at our next Debate to oppose the motion that ‘Women’s Labour should be Restricted’, and I am anxious to interest the members of the College in the subject’ 1901.
Some of the committee correspondence relates to proposals to provide Miss Sarah Torrance with a pension in the form of an annuity, by way of thanks for her years of service to the FLDS, 1913.
