Spare Rib, circa 1973 to 1989
Scope and Contents
Probably the best-known and longest-running publication of the Women’s Liberation Movement, Spare Rib was a national publication, founded by Rosie Boycott and Marsha Rowe and first published in London in June 1972. Originally distributed by Seymour Press to big chain bookshops, from 1976 it was distributed by Publications Distribution Co-operative to a network of radical and alternative bookshops. Publication ceased in 1993.
