Scope and Contents
Seven photographs of life at Girton, all stamped on back ‘Copyright Pictorial Press 26/29 Poppins Court Fleet Street London EC4’. Each print has a number on the back, presumably numbers in the series taken by Pictorial Press [1944] and inscribed on back in the hand of Sheelagh Jefferies:
1) (numbered 1 on back): ‘The Tower as seen from the main gate’ (with a group of students on the drive);
2) (numbered 2 on back): ‘The front of the College’ (showing the Tower from left of the driveway with 4 students walking towards Emily Davies Court);
3) (numbered 6 on back): ‘Miss Cam giving a supervision to Ruth Bale [?] and Joan Matthews’;
4) (numbered 10 on back): ‘The Library’ (showing five students working round a table, two standing in front of shelves and two sitting on a window seat);
5) (numbered 11 on back): ‘The Reading Room’;
6) (numbered 15 on back). ‘Post’ (showing three students in the post room with pigeon holes);
7) (numbered 29 on back): ‘Daphne (in striped jersey) and Audrey 1944’, with ironing board.
