File comprising the following:
1) Letter from ‘Bert’ [Albert Vorstius] with an envelope inscribed by Margaret Tyler “His last letter to my Mother and Aunt”
2) Notification, 17 January 1918, of the death of Albert Vorstius, of the 15th Battalion London Regiment (died of wounds received in action in Egypt, 29 December 1917), addressed to Mrs E Vorstius;
3) Sepia postcard photograph of Albert Vorstius in uniform, inscribed on back “Sir, will you please return photo, it is the only one I possess. Yours Truly, E. Vorstius”.
These items were found loose at page 5 of Margaret’s “My Roots” album at GCPP Tyler 2/1. The page is captioned “Private Albert George Vorstius. My mother’s brother and one of my father’s best friends. Knifed in back by a Turk”.
