Will, 1518-11-08
Scope and Contents
Eyton leaves to the Master and each of the Fellows who would sing 20 masses for him at Scala Caeli, 6s 8d, and, among many other pious bequests, orders masses for the soul of Elizabeth Duchess of Norfolk, and leaves £20 and the residue of his estate to the college on condition that they will say a mass in the blessed name of Jesus perpetually every Friday for him and his friends and relations as listed.
Robert Masters endorses the document as a copy of the will, but it has the appearance rather of a draft, bearing numerous corrections and also additionsapparently made at two different times.
The original portion is dated 8 November 1518, but if this is the Thomas Eyton who appears in other college records of about this time, he was still alive in 1521.
