Petition to person unknown, perhaps Robert Whittington, requesting writs for the feofees (CCCC) to appear in Chancery, 1503
Scope and Contents
Many of these documents are undated and the order of them below is largely conjectural. The internal evidence for dating seems often contradictory.
The case arises from disputed wills of William Kent, fellow, d. between 28 Aug. 1482 and 13 Feb. 1482/3, and of his father William Kent, burgess. Margaret, wife of Robert Cope or Coope was sister of William Kient, M.A., and named with Thomas Cosin as his co-executor. The matter was disputed, apparently, before the Vice-Chancellor, Dr John Blythe, as arbitrator, the mayor, the Court of Chancery and, perhaps, the Court of Arches, and it is not always at all clear into which of these contexts individual documents pertain.
