Letter to the Vice-Chancellor, 1491-01-28
Scope and Contents
The cause between the college and the Copes has been in dispute since two previous vice-chancellors. The VC has given sentence against the college, and the fellows have objected and threatened to sue. Rotherham suggests that the VC confers with his predecessors and that they write their opinion to the Chancellor. Meanwhile both parties are to be put out of possession of the tenement, 'the keeping indifferent whereof' he has assigned to the Warden of King's Hall and Mr William Toune [d. 1495]. All actions are put in suspense.
