Case for the opinion of the Attorney General, 1807-08-13
Scope and Contents
With reference to the property in 141 and 142 (the lessee, Gillam, however, being wrongly named as Gillman): Gillam wishes to renew his lease with the exclusion of the yard behind the property, and between it and the Guildhall or Tolbooth, which yard, he maintains, has not been in the possession of occupiers of the tenement for time out of mind, but has been annexed by one of the neighbouring tenements.
The college wishes either to recover possession of the yard or oblige the present tenant to recover it for them, or to penalise him. The Attorney General finds that there is nothing that the college can do to reclaim the property.
