Decree concerning procedure for college examinations as apreliminary to appearing in the public schools, 1628-09-11
Scope and Contents
'It is decreed that allthat sue for the degree of Bachelor upon the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next after the day of the Epiphany, or on any other three days at the discretion of the Master or President, in case the said former days be any impediment to their sitting in the Public Schools, and not otherwise, shall st in the inward Chapel of the College from nine of the clock until eleven in the morning, and from one to four each of those days in the afternoon, there to be opposed and examined by the Master and Fellows for trial of their worth and sufficiency before such time as their Graces shall be propounded in the College for their degrees.
It is further decreed that all that sue for the degree of Master shall sit in the Chapel for the same end and purpose upon the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday immediately before the day commonly called the Latter Act, before such time as their Graces shall be propoounded for that degree. And if any Bachelor, Commencer, or Master shall petition for any of those degrees after the said days appointed that they they shall sit other three days in like manner at the appointment of the Master or his President, before that their Grace shall be propounded in the College.
