Letter to Richard Love, 1646-07-13
Scope and Contents
Mr John Scambler has visited him and told him that he was in Cambridge a week since seeking a scholarship for one Samuel Garey and was told that the college sought Bacon's consent to the election. As there are three scholarships void, Bacon is anxious tht they be filled as soon as possible for 'otherwise, until the places be full, I think it is not my part to pay the money allowed during the time of vacancy'.
Samuel Gaery of Norwich was admitted as a pensioner on 6 July 1646 (as Cary), but migrated to Gonville and Caius College on 19 Sept. 1646 where he held a scholarship until 1649.
