51: Allegations against Gray (puritanical statements in a sermon in Great St Mary's) (in Copcot's hand ), 8 Jan. 1586/7; 51a. Memorandum ( in Copcot's hand )of a complaint made to him of a common place before the celebration of the Lord's Supper on 13 January in which Perkins maintained that it was a corruption that ministers received bread and wine from his own hands; that it was superstitious to receive the sacrament kneeling; and a corruption to face east. Notes of proceedings against him in the VC's Court on 19 January; the decision to administer interrogatories to the witnesses, Thomas Osbourn, Thomas Braddock, Robert Baines and Cuthbert Bainbridge; the interrogators and the signed depositions; 51b: responses, mostly exculpatory, of Hugh Gray ( in Copcot's hand ), 19 Jan.; 51c: Written, and more detailed, responses in another hand, article by article, renumbered by Copcot; 51d: continuous account of his sermon, signed by Gray; 51e-f: Perkins' account of his opinions, exculpatory in general, but maintaining his position against kneeling, citing Jewell against Harding.
