Scope and Contents

In consideration of Parker's grant to the college of the ground purchased from King's and of his gift of £500 the Master and Fellows covenant with the other parties to maintain and repair on the monition of the Masters of Gonville and Caius and of Trinity Hall the books as listed in three tripartite registers, and to make augmentation of commons as follows.
Each of the three messes [i.e. a table of four persons] of fellows is to be increased by 2d a mess at dinner on Monday to Thursday and on Saturday, totalling 2s 6d per week. If at the end of the year there is a surplus on account of fellows being out of residence, it is to be spent on the Norwich fellows if resident for the most part of the year, or, if not so resident, at the discretion of the Master and Fellows. The five messes of scholars are to be allowed an extra penny both at dinner and at supper every day of the week, totalling 5s 10d a week. Any surplus arising, as above, is to go to the 2 Norwich fellows and the 5 Norwich scholars.
If the college fails to make these augmentations they are to pay 6s 8d per week to be equally divided between Gonville and Caius and Trinity Hall.
Parker may in the future vary this agreement and appoints John Baker and Henry Gotobed his attornies to deliver seisin of the King's land to the college.
