Scope and Contents

For CCCC: alteration and change of arms into a better form, so confirmed by heralds; revision of statutes; devising of a Latin history of the college; grammar school at Rochdale to be overseen by the Master and Fellows; exhibition for 3 Norwich scholars (4 June 1567); books for the library by indenture of 1 Aug. 1569 with orders concerning them of 1 Jan. 1572; expenses of fitting up the inner library, with reparations to the bible clerk's chamber above; the advowson of St Mary Abchurch; three tenements at Westminster for the maintenance of 3 scholars (31 May 1569); £6 13s 4d per annum from Eastbridge Hospital for 200 years for the maintenance of 2 scholars (22 May 1569); 2 Fellows and 2 scholars from Norwich (6 Aug. 1569) and procurement of four prebendal advowsons for the said 2 Fellows and 2 other Fellows; a charter of mortmain of £100 per annum; gift and part delivery of plate gilt totalling 309¾ oz (6 Aug. 1574) and at the sealing of this document 1 gilt pot with cover weighing 16½ oz; £100 for fire in the hall and 13s 4d towards dinner for auditors, with 3s 4d to each of the auditors (1 Jan. 1572) and, for 17 or 18 years the sum to £14 8s.
For Gonville and Caius College: £60 13s 4d for a student in physic as in 28 above; a large standing cup gilt, with cover, weighing 40 oz; and at the sealing of this document a gilt pot with a cover weighing 15¾ oz.
For Trinity Hall: £60 13s 4d for a law student (as in 28); a standing cup gilt with cover weighing 37 oz, and at the sealing of this document a gilt pot weighing 16 oz.
Also £50 to the township of Mattishall, partly to relieve poverty and partly for a preacher from among the fellowship of CCCC (or Gonville and Caius) at 8s 4d 'as the said preacher of CCCC doth yearly receive 6s 8d for a sermon at Thetford, 10s for one at St Clement's, Norwich, 6s 8d for one at Wymondham and 6s 8d for one at Norwich Green Yard (indentures of 24 June 1567 and 15 Nov. 1569).
Also Parker has 'caused certain walls right over our common school to be erected with their returns into the midst of University Lane, the coping of the walls, and the paving of the lane as far as the walls extend' [University Street]
