Scope and Contents
Robert Harlestone grants to the parishioners an annual rent of 50s arising out of lands in Mattishall from which they are to pay 30s to the thirty poorest in the parish; 5s to Thomas Sparrow and to the poorest of his name forever; 8s 4d to a preacher to be appointed by the college, or in default, by Gonville and Caius college; 6s 8d to the vicar, curate or parish clerk which will take pains to teach children, or, in default, 6s to the neediest of the poor and 8d to the parish clerk.
The lands comprise, 2 acres in the East field between lands of Hugh Winche (E, W and N); 1 acre in the same field between lands of William Patrick (N) and John Erle (S) abutting (W) on lands of William Patrick; half an acre in the same field between lands of Hugh Winche (N) and John Allen (S) and the enclosed ground of Gregory Allen (E); 1 acre in Wood Croft between lands of William Rickes (S), Robert Harlestone (N) and Richard Baldwin (E); 1 acre in the same croft between lands of Thomas Davies (W) and Old House Grove (S); 1½ acres in the same croft between lands of Thomas Wattes (N), John Erle (S) and Robert Harlestone (W); one other parcel in the same croft between lands of Thomas Davies (S) and Robert Harlestone (W) and 1 acre in the East field between lands of John Wattes (N) and the common path (S) abutting on John Wattes (W) [this last interlineated].
