Spencer Account Book, 1693 - 1929
Scope and Contents
The Elmington estate was sold in 1929 for £3432 10s (£3197 14s 8d net) and the proceeds invested in Great Western 5% Consolidated stock and Local Loans 3% Stock 'B'.
The income from the Elmington estate, apart from specified payments to the Master and others, was largely used to benevolent purposes. It was also used, in straitened times, for loans to the college chest.
From the end are entered loans from the chest and other orders reklating to it from 1701/2 to 1721; the Rev. J. Pulling's account with the executors of Dr Lamb, 1850, and the Rev. E. H. Perowne in avcout with R., T. Caldwell, 14 Dec. 1891.
