Biographical / Historical

William Warren was born on 27th April 1683 in the parsonage of Ashford, Kent where his father, Rev. Samuel Warren was vicar. William Warren came up to Trinity Hall in 1700 before becoming a fellow in September 1712. He was ordained Curate of St. Edward's church in Cambridge before being admitted to the degree of Doctor of Laws in 1717. Warren also acted as Vice-Master and Bursar for the College whilst at Trinity Hall before returning to Ashford in Autumn 1743 to try to recover from a cancerous growth in his cheek. He died on 3rd January 1744 and was buried in Ashford.
