Diary of Spencer Penrice. Covers both his daily experiences in Cambridge whilst a student and when on holiday at his family home. He often mentions eating with Dr William Warren, Dr Monson, and Dr Francis Dickens.

Biographical / Historical
Spencer Penrice was born on 4th August 1719 and came up to Trinity Hall as a fellow commoner in 1736. His family home was Offley Place, Hertfordshire and when he died on 18th January 1739 he was buried in Offley. Spencer's father was Henry Penrice, who was also studied here and was a fellow from 1702 to 1714. He was a Judge of the High Court of Admiralty and was knighted in 1715.Spencer's brother-in-law, Thomas Salusbury, was also an alumnus of Trinity Hall and was a fellow here between 1732 to 1751.
