Correspondence from Moyra Stewart Sandeman, April 2018, regarding a plaque for Sir Hugh Fraser, Judge of the High Court, student (m. 1878) and honorary fellow of Trinity Hall, which requires a new home after the deconsecration and sale of the church in which it had been set in Balmacara, Rosshire. The family was offering it to Trinity Hall.
Hugh Fraser was born in 1860, and educated at Charterhouse and Trinity Hall, where he was exhibitioner, scholar, law student, and Cressingham Prizeman. He also obtained an Inns of Court studentship and a scholarship at the Inner Temple in 1885, and was called to the bar in 1886. In 1917 he was knighted. In 1918 he was elected a Bencher of his Inn. The papers also include obituaries for Fraser, and a copy of a letter to Fraser's son, Alastair, from Lord Denning in 1983 regarding his memory of Fraser.
