Darwin College Archives is committed to providing access to its collections for the purposes of teaching, research and administrative reference. Biographical / Historical

Mary Fowler is the sixth Master of Darwin College, Cambridge. She was Master from 2012 to 2020.
Professor Mary Fowler studied mathematics at Girton College, Cambridge, in 1972 before joining Darwin College, Cambridge, to complete her post-graduate studies and a PhD in geophysics in 1976. She joined Royal Holloway, University of London, in 1992 as a lecturer and progressed to becoming the Dean of the Faculty of Science in 2011. From 2012 to 2020 Mary Fowler was elected as the Master of Darwin College, Cambridge.
Mary Fowler was awarded the Prestwich Medal by the Geological Society of London 1996. She is a Fellow of various institutions including the Royal Astronomical Society, Geological Society of London, and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. Mary Fowler has also been awarded an honorary Doctor of Science by the University of Leeds and the University of Edinburgh.
