Oils Painting in Public Ownership - Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, 2010
Scope and Contents
This volume shows some 2,400 oil paintings in public ownership in three counties drawn from 75 collections featuring museums, art galleries, councils, educational establishments, hospitals and public libraries. Highlights include important twentieth-century oil paintings at Bedford’s Cecil Higgins Art Gallery, the little-known nineteenth-century collection of the Wisbech and Fenland Museum in Cambridgeshire and fine seventeenth- and eighteenth- century portraits at Lamport Hall in Northamptonshire. Northampton Museums and Art Gallery’s large and diverse Collection features important eighteenth-century Italian works and paintings relating to the town’s shoemaking industry. Other significant contributions include the Alfred East Art Gallery Permanent Collection in Kettering, the Cromwell Museum in Huntingdon and Museums Luton.
Including painting at Addenbrooke's Hosptail and at the time were all on display.
