Scope and Contents
Folders of slides:
Equipment: radiotherapy treatment machines both old and new sites. We moved to Hills Road in Apr 1972 but had to operate both departments for a year or two to cater for in-patients still at Trumpington Street.
Shells 1 and 2:
These show the entire procedure for producing casts to stabilise patients undergoing specialised radiotherapy treatment. The head Mould Room technician - shown was Sid Mansfield and the 'patient' was a 'volunteer' Jean Taylor SRN on RT, staff nurse. Sadly, with the recent advances in localisation of tumours made this work redundant about 5 years ago and the Mould Room closed.
Simulator 1 and 2: As its name implies this machine simulated a treatment and thus assured complete accuracy. This unit was installed in the new department.
Last slide show the new department happing. The last four show what we had left behind.
