The Fund for Addenbrooke's was established as an independent registered charity in October 1997 as the first professional pro-active fundraising office for the hospital. The Friends of Addenbrooke's Hospital was set up in 1999 as part of The Fund for Addenbrooke's to lead on community fundraising. The Fund and Friends of Addenbrooke's and Addenbrooke's Charities merged in 2005. Name changed to Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT) in 2007. 2007 marked the start of a new era for fundraising at Addenbrooke's Hospital with the hospital's existing charity taking on a brand new identity. The Fund & Friend's of Addenbrooke's (FFA) has been renamed The Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust or ACT for short.
