The Samaritan Fund in Connection with Addenbrooke's Hospital was established by the Charity Commissioners in 1951 though its activities appear to date from at least 1948. The original benefaction established the Fund "for the relief of those patients who are discharged from Addenbrooke's Hospital and who cannot, through weakness or other causes, immediately support themselves".
