Scope and Contents

There are numerous photographs of Victorian artworks by artists such as Millais. There are also photographs of Cambridge scenes, such as: Goode's Boat House on the Cam, Hostel Bridge, Christ's College seen from the street and the Fellows' Building. There are some humorous photomontages in which heads of students (taken from photographs) are superimposed on drawings of donkey races. The students depicted are named for the years 1867 and 1868. There is one called 'Scratch Pairs 1868: a False Start'. There are also some serious sporting photographs: Christ's College Eleven May 1868, Christ's College Second Boat Lent 1869, Cambridge University Eight 1868, the Varsity Eight 1867, the Varsity Eleven 1867, Officers of the Cambridge University Rifle Corps 1869. All of these have names of those appearing in the photographs listed.
