Letter from Thomas Thorp explaining punishment of Frere's undergraduate nephew's unruly behaviour at a Commemoration dinner, 1827-12-25

 Item
Reference Code: GBR/0269/DCPP/FRE/1/4/16
Scope and Contents

Frere was throwing food, along with his friends and Thorp acted to deal with the ensuing 'riot'. It is unclear which Frere this letter refers to, but seems likely the dinner was held at Trinity rather than Downing, given Thorp's position, so probably refers to either Edward Frere (who migrated from Downing to Trinity in 1824) or John Frere, who matriculated at Trinity in 1826.
