Letter to the Secretary, Royal Society of Arts re lectures on aerial photography, 1919-05-17
Scope and Contents
Letter written from the Air Ministry, Strand, explaining that Major Laws (invited by the RSA to lecture on aerial photography) is too busy and has asked him to undertake the lectures as he gave something similar in India last winter. His proposed lecture would be on 'Aerial Photograph and its application in War and Peace', dealing with his area of expertise, the use of the aeroplane camera in the survey and exploration of unmapped countries. His experience as RAF photographic officer in the Middle East and on a recent special mission to India connected with the future developoments of aerial photography there would be especially useful and he had a good deal of lecturing experience as a Cambridge University Extension lecturer before the war. He hopes to show some interesting lantern slides of views taken from aeroplanes in Egypt, Palestine, Mesopotamia, and India, which have not been previously shown in England.
