Scope and Contents

Re Downing memorials in Spexhall Parish Church, with copy of transcribed inscriptions and rubbing of a griffin from the tomb of a George Downing 1655, in Spexhall Church. (With notes: This George Downing is not a close relation to the branch of the Downing Family which includes the Founder but it is interesting to see the Griffin used so early by a Downing Family in Suffolk).
