Scope and Contents

Eight bundles containing a mixture of manuscript and typescript notes on this subject. The first two bundles contain material on broadsheet ballads (both the lyrics themselves and notes / commentary on them), whereas the next four bundles contain transcribed lyrics only, without commentary. The last two bundles contain two copies in typescript of the same essay, on street ballads: an analysis of the material collected in the other bundles.
