Biographical / Historical
Arthur Beeny Appleton was an undergraduate at Downing College, 1907-10, studying Medicine. After Downing he continued his training at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London. Following service in the First World War with the R.A.M.C., he joined the Anatomy Department at Cambridge University in 1919 and was appointed Lecturer in 1926. He was elected to a Fellowship at Downing College in 1930, but resigned in 1934 on his appointment as Professor of Anatomy at the University of London at St Thomas's Hospital Medical School. He died in 1950.
