Letters of William Wilkins to Busick Harwood, William Frere and [mainly] George Frere, 1808-08 - 1819-04
Scope and Contents
Concerning various aspects of building the College, including several letters relating specifically to the building of the vault on the proposed site of the Chapel in 1814, following Busick Harwood's death and interrment on the site. (The exact date is unclear. He died on 10th November and a licence was granted by the Bishop of Ely on 12th November, but a letter of the same date from Wilkins talks of erecting a temporary structure until the vault could be constructed. A presscutting from 16th December 1814 in Stanley French's reference file on this says he was interred in the vault the day before). Subjects include: Annesleys' proposed alterations to the Fellows' Garden to inclose part for the use of the Master's Lodge, 9/8/1808, and Wilkins's objections; bath in the Master's Lodge, 1812; stables and coach house.
