Biographical / Historical
'At an early meeting of the Governing Body [Francis Annesley's] younger brother Martin had been appointed Receiver, first of the Suffolk estates, later of all the College property, but as the Visitor was told many years later "Dr Annesley had in fact the whole direction of the business of the Receivership in his 'brother's name and with his concurrence". The general business of the estates was conducted solely by Dr Annesley and Mr Annesley under the direction of the Master in Chancery'. [from Stanley French, Aspects of Downing History (1982) p.88], Officially he was appointed receiver by the Master in Chancery 8 Mar 1800.
