'Copy of the Admission of Sir George Downing Bart':
Oliver Chatburne [son of Oliver Chatburne, deceased], surrender a curtilage with adjacent croft, formerly built, one time Simon Foreman's, afterwards John Harman's; lying between free tenement one time Alex Austin's, afterwards John Plumb's on the west, free cottages first Alex Austin's and afterwards Jacob Canham's on the east, abutting on Bridge Street way towards south and on St Mary Way towards north; containing by estimation 30 perches, formerly of John Eastow and his wife…; to hold to use of George Downing of Gamlingay, Cambridge, Bart; which land had been surrendered to Mary Wood by Oliver Chatburne, father, 23 Dec 1723 [conditional payment £620?] and on 21 Nov 1720 said John Woods was admitted after death of Mary, his mother.
