These papers document the attempts of the heirs-at-law of George Downing and their solicitors to gain possession of the Downing Estates and revenues according to the will of George Downing. Most of the papers derive from the various causes that dragged on in Chancery, even until well after the College foundation. As such this series represents a 'stand-alone' and slightly artificial record group.
