Signed inside the cover 'E. T. Adams, 2 Mar 1906'. Includes itemised list of individual instruments, with details of their operation, history, provenance and (in some cases) sale, with list of 18th and 19th century 'works with reference to navigation and shipbuilding' inside the cover. Includes various loose enclosures: 'Another change in Fleet Street' (The Bookseller, January 1883) re the closure of the print shop at No.53 Fleet Street; list of items 'for photographs'; press cuttings re Harrison's Sea Clock (Daily Mail, 10 Oct 1924), restarted after 157 years, and 'Sir James Caird's Gift' re the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich (Times, 10 Jan 1930).
