Scope and Contents
Marion was a talented artist and accompanied her husband to the Australian conference of the British Association for the Advancement of Science in 1914, painting a 'Colour Diary' of 160 watercolours recording their destinations on the four month voyage (during which time the First World War broke out). Includes photographic portrait of Marion, 1923, and watercolours of the following (various views of each and others included, plus several sunsets and sea views): Plymouth; Tenerife; Cape Town; Australia (Adelaide, Melbourne, Blue Mountains, Sydney, Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, Coral Reef); Bali; Java; Empress of Japan; Singapore; Penang; Nicobar Islands; Red Sea; Coast of Arabia; Coast of Africa; Suez; Malta; Sardinia; Marseilles; Balearics; Coast of Spain.
