Includes (with inscriptions from the authors): Philip Vellacott's translation of 'Euripedes' Alcestis and other plays' (1953); 'Napoleon' by Herbert Butterfield (1939); 'Gold Khan', translated by Norman Cohn (1946), with accompanying letter; 'Plato, Timaeus', Penguin Classics (1965), translated with an introduction [and inscription] by Desmond Lee. Also includes: 'Abbeys' by M. R. James, inscribed 'W.K.C. Guthrie from Jerry and Marjorie, Xmas 1925'; 'Plato: The Laws', Penguin Classics (1970), with annotations by Guthrie.
