Five letters from R.H. Tucker, Lick Observatory, University of California, regarding an occultation of BD -8º 3552 by Mars on 3 July 1888; the positions of three BD stars; E.S. Holden's noting of the 1888 occultation; a probable error by Bessel in his observation of BD -22º 3769; and news of Tucker's impending retirement.
