He found Bowers' letter interesting; hopes he will continue work on subject 'for it has caused the same difficulties in my own mind'; he feels it is the right side of the question to take; believes most clergy are against admitting them [Jews?] to Parliament; five or six bishops are in favour
Glad to find he has not given Bowers trouble; thanks for sermon; he read his letter with much interest
He will consider Bowers' 'useful suggestions... you have nothing to apologise for'; he said unfavourable things to the late Mr Martin, 'which has been on my conscience ever since. The truth is did some things well, but neglected others'
