Comments on matrimony (Vernes, Pastor at Geneva, about to marry) and good wishes; he hopes to see a copy of the Genevan edition of his article, 'Economie politique' from the 'Encyclopédie', promoted by Vernes; Voltaire has not written (to acknowledge Rousseau's 'Lettre à d'Alembert'); Tronchin's letter contained judicious criticisms of Rousseau's work; he has not forgotten Vernes' request, but has little time for writing - his illness - has to reply to thousands of letters, entertain...

Written from Chiswick. Rousseau mentions proofs he is returning to Guy, possibly of pages of the Dictionnaire de Musique (1767); asks Guy to assist the bearer of the letter, who is the son of Mr Pulleyn ['Pullein'], Rousseau's host in Chiswick, and who is planning to reside in Paris for a few months; asks for books and other items to be sent; and outlines his coming itinerary. With an engraving of Rousseau.
