Biography

Henry Hasted (1771-1852) was born in Bury St Edmunds on 17 September 1771, and educated at Bury Grammar School. He entered Christ's College, Cambridge, in 1789 (B.A., 1793; M.A., 1796), where he was a Fellow, 1795-1804. He was ordained deacon in 1794, and priest in 1795. Hasted became curate of Great Barton, Suffolk, in 1794. He was Rector of Ickworth with Chedburgh, Suffolk, 1803-1842, Rector of Bradfield-Combust, 1808-1832, Rector of Breeseworth, 1812-1852, and Rector of Great and Little Horningsheath, 1814-1852. He was a lecturer at St James's, Bury St Edmunds, 1803-1842. Hasted was the father of Henry John Hasted. He died at Bury St Edmunds on 26 November 1852.
