Biography
William Perkins (1558-1602) was born at Marston Jabbett, Warwickshire. He matriculated at Christ's College, Cambridge, in 1577 (B.A., 1581; M.A., 1584), where he became a Fellow in 1584. He was lecturer at St Andrew's, Cambridge, until 1602. Perkins was the author of many theological works, which were translated into several languages and reflected his strong Calvinist beliefs. He died in Cambridge on 22 October 1602.
